IWM's Portable Waterjet Cutter Machine

Portable water jet cutter machine is also known as mobile water jet cutter. It can be loaded on a truck or a trailer so that the cutting can be performed at the location where the object to be cut is located. The machine mainly consists of a high pressure water jet pump, a cutting gun, and an abrasive feeder. The cutting gun is often mounted on a carrier which can move along special designed rails. In some cases, the waterjet cutting gun can be handheld for special needs. Handheld waterjet cutting requires some operator experience and also sufficient safty protection. In some cases, portable waterjet is submerged underwater to cut metal or concrete structures, such as underwater waterjet cutting of pipes or other types of applications.

The mobile waterjet cutting machine mainly consists of a high pressure pump, abrasive feeding system and portable rails that water jet cutting head can be mounted. A portable water tank and water pressure boost pump are optional.

Portable straight rails can be mounted on the roof or vertical wall of a tank for cutting holes or straight lines. With staight lines, it can form triangle, rectangle or other polygon shapes of openings.

A portable waterjet machine with circular rail (model 3) cuts on a pipe. It is used to cut small circular holes on the pipe.

Due to high pressure, portable water jet cutter is not recommended to cut with bear hand held cutting gun. The handheld cutting gun is better to be supported with a stand rack. In most cases, the cutting head is mounted on a motor driven carrier moving along the rails for constant speed and steady move. The speed is adjustable in order to fit the need of cutting different types of materials and different thickness.

CNC controlled portable waterjet cutter is also available. This type of portable water jet cutter is specialized in cutting holes that can be use to connect branches to the main pipe.

Underwater cutting with portable waterjet machine

In the case of the need of underwater portable waterjet cutting, the small car that carries cutting head is driven by a hydraulic motor. A hydraulic prower station is used to provide the hydraulic pressure. Abrasive and water is pre-mixed in a pressure vessel. And a high pressure jet of water carries in the the mixture in and long hose and shoots through a nozzle to make cuts. The water pump and vessel remain above water. The cutting rail and car go underwater and driven by hydraulic power. The portable underwater waterjet cutting machine can cut metal, concrete and other types of materials. It is very important that after a cutting job is completed, we close the abrasive valve at the mixing vessel, and the water jet should remain for some time to clear all the abrasive inside the long hose to avoid clogging.
